This is Great Stuff Day at Writing as a Sacred Path, in which I offer up some of the gems I’ve come across in my recent explorations. This week, I’m sharing three especially powerful blog posts. Check them out this weekend, then let me know what you think.
Do you sometimes feel there is a “void” in your life? What do you do to fill that void? Or is that the wrong question? Maybe the void isn’t such a bad thing. In this thought-provoking post, Karmapayo suggests the “void” is actually a place of great potential and creativity. This post might change the way you think about the void forever.
Psychologists and social scientists have longed known that people search out evidence that confirms what they already believe. Come across information that conflicts with our beliefs, and we simply filter it out. We might like to think we’re making rational decisions based on data, but usually we’re selecting data that fits our preconceived notions. The phenomenon has a name: “Confirmation Bias.”
But the situation isn’t hopeless. There are ways you can get out of your own information blinders. This post by Padma talks about four ways we can avoid our own confirmation bias so we can actually get at truth.
“Stay in the Eternal Present and Walk Towards the Light” from Taoist Path
Commit to things that fall in line with Who you are, writes Pedram on the Taoist Path website. Although he is restating things that have been said many times before, he does it especially well. “When we can stay in the present moment, all the power of the Universe is available to us,” he writes. Learn how we can remain “connected to the Source of all Life, Light, Healing, and Inspiration” in this inspiring post.
