I’ve been spending the past few posts sharing the work of other bloggers. Today’s share is about the Australian aboriginal practice of “deep listening,” or dadirri.Aboriginal writer Miriam-Rose Ungunmerr-Baumann writes, “Dadirri is in everyone. It isn’t just an Aboriginal thing.”
In this post, she describes the process of Dadirri and how it can be used even in our busy modern lives. “Our Aboriginal culture has taught us to be still and to wait,” she says. “We do not try to hurry things up. We let them follow their natural course – like the seasons.”
Deep listening is the gift that the world is thirsting for. Thank you for posting this – it’s so timely. Here’s hoping humanity will once again learn to listen deeply.
I’m glad you found the post as enlightening as I did, Rosanna. Deep listenig is such a wonderful practice.
Beautiful … thank you for sharing; the link contains a beautiful video of a wise woman, an Aboriginal elder. Isn’t she marvelous?
Yes, she’s wonderful!
