Wabi-Sabi: An Aesthetic for Writers

Today, I’m sharing another great post.Recently, I have become fascinated with the Japanese notion of wabi-sabi and what it can offer writers. What is wabi-sabi? According to Leonard Koren’s book, Wabi-Sabi: For Artists, Designers, Poets & Philosophers (Stone Bridge Press, 1994), it is “a beauty of things imperfect, impermanent, and incomplete. It is a beauty of things modest and humble. It is a beauty of things unconventional.”

Maki, author of the lovely Crossing Nebraska Blog, explored wabi-sabi in a beautifully written, in-depth post titled “Can Wabi-Sabi Save the World?” last June.

To learn about this aesthetic of imperfection, authenticity, modesty, and simplicity read his post here.
