Three Inspiring Blogs on the Feminine Divine

Today’s Great Stuff for Writers focuses on an aspect of spirituality I am just beginning to delve into in my own writing and thinking: The Feminine Divine. Exploring this side of my spirituality is proving to be a challenging, rich, and satisfying journey—and one I will be blogging about in future posts. In the meantime, I want to share some blogs focusing on the Feminine Divine. Here are three that I have found especially inspiring.

On the Gaia Path
Darla Graves Palmer shares her personal explorations of the Feminine Divine as she encounters it in all sorts of guises On the Gaia Path.

What I like:

  • Palmer’s openness, candor, and refreshingly relaxed approach. She admits without hesitation that she is writing into her understanding of the Divine, and she comes to her blog without rigid pre-conceived ideas of what spirituality is or should be.
  • Posts on fresh, interesting topics like “barefoot spirituality,” the experience of the goddess Hestia on (the pagan autumn festival) Samhain, and Palmer’s travels, along with occasional snippets of poetry.
  • The visual prettiness of the site. It is simply nice to look at.
Annebaring.com
The website of Anne Baring, Jungian psychoanalyst and author of several books on spirituality, including The Mystic VisionSoul Power: An Agenda for a Conscious Humanity; and The One Work: Journey Toward the Self.

What I like:

  • The opportunity to read chapters of Baring’s book The Divine Feminine: Exploring the Feminine Face of God throughout the World.
  • A large collection of Baring’s thoughtful lectures on a wide range of intriguing spiritual topics.
  • Beautiful paintings by Baring’s husband, Robin Baring.

The Feminine Divine Blog
Hosted by Women of Spirit and Faith, a community of spiritual and religious women from all faiths and approaches, The Feminine Divine Blog  is “a sacred space for the voices of women . . . to explore and express the many dimensions of the Divine Feminine.”

What I like:

  • The genuine everyone-is-invited atmosphere. The mission of Women of Spirit and Faith is expressly to “invite the many brilliant threads of feminine spiritual leadership into relationship and to support emerging patterns for transformation.”
  • The sense of community. Unlike blogs by individual authors, this one takes a communal, inclusive approach. It feels welcoming.
  • The focus on social transformation. Posts on topics like violence against women, women in the workplace, and women in leadership positions alongside ones on meditation, prayer, and ritual bring spirituality into the realm of sociopolitical change.
Check out these blogs on the Feminine Divine and let me know what you think. And, if you know of any others, share them here.
