Fantasy Crossing: It’s All about the Quirk

????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

Quirky: /ˈkwərkē/:

eccentric, idiosyncratic, unconventional, unorthodox, unusual, strange, bizarre, peculiar, odd, outlandish, zany.

I love “quirk.” Quirkiness makes you think. Quirkiness makes you squirm, gasp, or laugh. Mainly, quirkiness is fun. I need fun in my writing life. So do you! (Yes, you. There. Reading this post. I’m talking to YOU.)

When I write, I’m usually so caught up in the struggle to say what I want to say, the worry about how I’m saying it, and the anxiety that I might not be saying anything, that fun is the last thing on my mind. Sometimes, I have to stop and remind myself: If I’m not enjoying myself, what’s the point? Where is the fun?

The fun is in quirkiness. And it is also on my new website Fantasy Crossing.

I love fantasy and science fiction. I love the imagination, the magic, the vision, the strangeness. I love the FUN of it. And that is why I started Fantasy Crossing. Here’s what you will find there:

Fantasy Crossing is a website focusing on young adult and middle grade speculative fiction.

Fantasy Crossing’s mission is to unite eager readers with emerging and aspiring authors.

Fantasy Crossing plays with darkness and light in speculative fiction, reveling in the frightening as well as the playful, the shocking along with the charming.

Fantasy Crossing’s goal is to support new writers by publishing their work, promoting new novels (both traditionally published and indie), and offering fantasy/sci-fi news and tips.

Fantasy Crossing launched with the first installment of my new MG fantasy novella, Missed.

Fantasy Crossing is all about the quirky fun of fantasy and sci-fi. If you are drawn to the whimsical, fanciful, and strange in YA and MG fiction, check out Fantasy Crossing.

If you’re a writer of YA or MG speculative fiction, join the community and discover what Fantasy Crossing can do for you!
